(Continued)
Let’s say that small group leader/youth leader was to
acknowledge one of the members for a specific task he/she asked them to do –
the same task they asked you to perform the week before … and they publicly
“praised” that person more for it than what they did you the week before … what
immediately pops up in your heart?
If you’re a pastor and you’ve been in a specific area
for some time, your church is growing and you’re making a difference in the
community, etc. - but there’s another church in the area; it’s excelling as
well, also involved in the community. It’s been there though for a shorter time
than you have. But that church received recognition from the local newspaper
and radio station and yours didn’t … what’s your first thoughts on the matter?
Let’s say you’re in the choir and you’ve been the lead
vocalist for the past 10 years – but now someone else comes along, just
recently joined the church, sings just as good as you, and all of a sudden
people stand up to applaud this new singer, pastors complimenting him/her from
the pulpit, etc. … and you never once got such recognition … what goes through
your heart then?
