Should I give in the Offering? - 2 - (20/01/2012)

(Continued)

For which purpose was the offering to be taken up?

Exodus 35:21 tells us, “21 Then everyone came whose heart was stirred (at times the Holy Spirit will specifically prompt you to give, and also how much to give), and everyone whose spirit was willing, and they brought the Lords offering for the work of the tabernacle of meeting, for all its service, and for the holy garments.”
Exodus 36:3 reads “3 And they received from Moses all the offering which the children of Israel had brought for the work of the service of making the sanctuary”

So one of the reasons for an offering, as seeing in the example above, is for building, maintaining and improving the church building and its facilities.

I want to highlight that this was an instruction from God to take up the offering, not a man-made decision - we must know that. So when you’re pastor asks for the offering to be taken up, remember that he has the right to do so because God was the one that instituted it.
