This morning I was listening to a song by Hillsong titled “All I need is you” - and I thought about how all that we really need in life is found in God.
We must be so cautious when using the word “God” - and even when we read it in the bible. That we don’t just see the word as it is in black and white writing – but rather that when we see the word “God” – that we recognize that word for what it means.
When I see the word God as found in the Bible, I mustn’t just see names that describe His character – but more so that this is who He is! – to ME!
So that when I say that God is all I need in life - I am saying that my God is:
El Shaddai - "the Almighty" - The God who is more than enough – (Genesis 17:1)
That He’s my Advocate - 1 John 2:1 – “My little children, these things I write to you, so that you may not sin. And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous.”
That He is the Bread of Life - John 6:35 - “And Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life. He who comes to Me shall never hunger, and he who believes in Me shall never thirst.”
That He is the Chief Cornerstone - Ephesians 2:20 - “having been built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ Himself being the chief cornerstone,”
That He’s my Chief Shepherd - 1 Peter 5:4 - “and when the Chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the crown of glory that does not fade away.”
That He’s my Faithful Witness - Revelation 1:5 - “and from Jesus Christ, the faithful witness, the firstborn from the dead, and the ruler over the kings of the earth.”
That He’s the Good Shepherd - John 10:14 - “ I am the good shepherd; and I know My sheep, and am known by My own.”
My Great High Priest - Hebrews 4:14 - “Seeing then that we have a great High Priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession.”
My King - Revelation 15:3 - “They sing the song of Moses, the servant of God, and the song of the Lamb, saying: “Great and marvelous are Your works, Lord God Almighty! Just and true are Your ways, O King of the saints!”
That He’s the King of Kings - 1 Timothy 6:15 - “ which He will manifest in His own time, He who is the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings and Lord of lords”
That He’s The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world - John 1:29
That He’s shown me the way, the truth and the life - John 14:6
That He’s my Mediator - 1 Timothy 2:5 - “For there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus”
That He’s my Redeemer - Job 19:25 - “For I know that my Redeemer lives, and He shall stand at last on the earth”
That He’s my Savior – John 3:16 - “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever should believe in Him, will not perish, but will have everlasting life”
That He’s my Wonderful Counselor, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace - Isaiah 9:6
That my God is:
JEHOVAH-MEKADDISHKEM - "The Lord who sanctifies" - (Exodus 31:13)
JEHOVAH-JIREH - "The Lord who provides" - (Genesis 22:14)
JEHOVAH-SHALOM - "The Lord who gives peace" - (Judges 6:24)
JEHOVAH-RAPHA - "The Lord who heals" - (Exodus 15:26)
JEHOVAH-TSIDKENU - "The Lord our righteousness" - (Jeremiah 23:6)
JEHOVAH-SHAMMAH - "The Lord who is there" - (Ezekiel 48:35)
JEHOVAH-NISSI - "The Lord our banner" – (Exodus 17:15)
This is our God!
