Good day
John 14:16 (KJV)
And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter (NKJV uses the word Helper), that he may abide with you forever
John 14:26 (KJV)
But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.
John 15:26 (NKJV)
But when the Helper comes, whom I shall send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth who proceeds from the Father, He will testify of Me.
The Greek word for Comforter (Helper) is paraklÄ“tos – it means someone who is called to one's side, esp. called to one's aid - one who pleads another's cause before a judge, a pleader, counsel for defense, legal assistant, an advocate - in the widest sense, a helper, succourer (somebody or something that provides help or relief - to provide help or relief to somebody or something in a difficult or unpleasant situation), aider, assistant – and this person is the Holy Spirit.
Jesus Christ said that He/the Father will send us the Holy Spirit (the Comforter/Helper) – who will come to our aid, who will plead our cause, who will provide help or relief for us. That’s who He is - not even referring to what He does (what He does can be seen from the above versus and others found in the bible). What He does for us comes out of who He is … and He is our Helper … He is “Thee” Helper!
So often we run to others for help and assistance, and seek comfort or support from others – when in fact we have the All Sufficient, Omnipresent, Omniscient Helper with us, the Holy Spirit! … He is the One who comes to the aid of another – the One who is called to one’s side – the One who provides help and relief - our Helper! … that’s who He is!
Receive His help this day my friend
