We now see how important the word of God is to a born again believer and disciple of Jesus Christ, with relation to faith. I want to build on that and suggest that the armour of God is actually a revelation of who we are in Christ. A revelation that comes by spending time in the word of God.
I suggest this because the only way we know about the armour (salvation, truth, righteousness, that the gospel brings peace, the word of God and faith), is by having read about it in the bible. Therefore there would be no armour (no ability to stand in the midst of the battle) - without having first learnt about it in the word of God.
Therefore no word - no armour.
Some other consequences of there being "no word" are:
No word - no salvation (Romans 10:5-13)
No word - no faith (Romans 10:17)
No word - no ability to build your life on a solid foundation (Matthew 7:24-27)
No word - no stability (Psalm 1:1-3)
No word - no success (Joshua 1:7-9)
This explains why the enemy is after the word (Mark 4:13-19).
His goal is to prevent the word of God from manifesting in the life of someone who believes in Jesus Christ; and we all know how real and intense this battle is. No one is immune to this, nor can we escape it. There's a consistent tug/temptation to draw us away from spending time with God. This is a daily battle! A daily attack on our lives to get our focus off God, off His word, off His perspective on matters.
The question is now that we know that this is taking place, everyday, how do we combat it?
