Good day
I John 3:18
My little children, let us not love in word or in tongue, but in deed and in truth.
God would not ask us to do something that He is not prepared to do Himself. This means that when we look at the above verse, we can say that God's love for us is not just in word alone but also in deed.
I John 4:8-10
He who does not love does not know God, for God is love. In this the love of God was manifested toward us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through Him. In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins.
God's love for us resulted in action. It wasn't just a promise made by words only because it became a reality.
That promise of love resulted in a corresponding action = Love was made evident in the person of Jesus Christ and the free gift of eternal life that He purchased for us when He died and rose again, having paid the penalty for our sins so that we could be justified, and who is now seated at the right hand of God! Glory to God!
This continual action on the part of God (of loving in word and action) can be seeing on a daily basis in the lives of many people. It continues to draw people to Him, for it is the goodness and kindness of God that leads man to repentance (Romans 2:4). Through this relationship with Him, we experience His peace, freedom, mercy, forgiveness, faithfulness, patience, care and love; and also purpose, vision, direction, wisdom, fulfillment and many other spiritual blessings - that God so consistently demonstrates in and through our lives, on a daily basis!!!
Now this continual demonstration of love should build trust: Trust in who God says He is and in what He says He would do.
Trust is developed over time. It consists of confiding in someone and trusting that they won't tell others. It's leaving things in their care, entrusting them with that responsibility. It's counting on others. It involves being reliable or dependable. It hinges on traits like integrity, honesty and transparency. It's developed by people sticking to what they said they would do (loving in word and action) ... People say that trust is earned, and that's correct, and God has earned that trust!
Most of what is described above comes through the development of a relationship with that person, and the same applies with us and God. Meaning we cannot fully trust God without knowing His love for us ... and this love can only come through continual time spent with Him and developing our relationship with Him.
I John 4:15-19
All who declare that Jesus is the Son of God have God living in them, and they live in God. We have come to know [by personal observation and experience], and have believed [with deep, consistent faith] the love which God has for us. God is love, and the one who abides in love abides in God, and God abides continually in him. In this [union and fellowship with Him], love is completed and perfected with us, so that we may have confidence in the day of judgment [with assurance and boldness to face Him]; because as He is, so are we in this world. There is no fear in love [dread does not exist]. But perfect (complete, full-grown) love drives out fear, because fear involves [the expectation of divine] punishment, so the one who is afraid [of God’s judgment] is not perfected in love [has not grown into a sufficient understanding of God’s love]. We love each other because He loved us first.
I really believe that this is something God is wanting you to be aware of right now, that He really wants you to know that you can trust Him. That He wants you to trust Him, and that the reason you may be struggling with this right now is because you haven't fully grasped/reflected upon/meditated upon His love for you ... and that the only way that'll come, is if you spend time with Him. He wants you to be in His presence.
I'd also like to encourage you to take the time to forward this email to at least one other person that you believe would be encouraged by it. Many times there are others who are just waiting for a message that deals with a situation they may find themselves in; Who need that bit of hope and encouragement concerning their relationship with God ... this could be one of those times!)
God bless you dear friend.
