Recap & Conclusion - Shining our Light - Part 16

Good day

The commandment to love is foundational to the subject of shining our light and Jesus makes it clear in the below passage that everyone will know that we are His disciples by our love that's on display (i.e. We shine our light by fulfilling this commandment)

John 13:34-35 (AMP)
I am giving you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, so you too are to love one another. By this everyone will know that you are My disciples, if you have love and unselfish concern for one another.”

Every time we choose to follow or adhere to God's way of doing things, we shine our light, and if we want to see change in the hearts and minds of others, where they too come to accept Jesus Christ as their Lord and Saviour and follow God's will for their lives, then we need to be consistent and diligent with these matters. We need to give it attention. It needs to take priority. We must seek to make progress and get better at it. We must encourage others to do the same ... and we must persevere in these things ... There's an expectation my friend, to shine our light.

I would therefore like to conclude this series on Shining our Light by sharing a series titled, "Most Important Commandment". Here I've covered the following topics, "The absence of love; God's love towards us; What standard do we use; What the Holy Spirit wants for the church; Take an interest in others; Accepting others; Loving others; Warning Signs & the weight of love"

Please see below link to this series:

I trust that you've enjoyed these messages on "Shining our Light". Something that stood out for me in this series was that when I believed the Holy Spirit wanted me to share this series I thought I was initially going to be speaking about the importance of reaching people, making a difference in our society and communities, and generally just on how to be a vessel for God's glory, etc. But instead the Holy Spirit focused this series more on what's happening on the inside of us rather than on what/how God accomplishes things through us.

I pray that you will take the time to reflect on this series and allow God to show you which areas He wants you to give attention to, and to approach Him for help in those areas.

The commandment to Shine our Light is for all believers:

Philippians 2:12-16, Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling; for it is God who works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure. Do all things without complaining and disputing, that you may become blameless and harmless, children of God without fault in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world, holding fast the word of life, so that I may rejoice in the day of Christ that I have not run in vain or labored in vain.

Therefore as we seek and trust God to bring this to pass in our lives, let us always remember/know that we need His help to do so - as we all seek to live a life that's pleasing unto Him and have Him shine His light through us. Amen.

Take care and remain strong in the grace and love of God!
