He is that Strong Tower

Good day

Proverbs 18:10
The name of the Lord is a strong tower; The righteous run to it and are safe.

Recently the above verse stood out and I believe the encouragement the Holy Spirit wanted to share here was for us to be reminded that God is with us as we embark on the year ahead. That no matter what may come - or even how things may be going right now - I believe God is reminding us that He is with us - That He is our Strong Tower!

Psalms 61:3‭-‬4
For You have been a shelter for me, A strong tower from the enemy. I will abide in Your tabernacle forever; I will trust in the shelter of Your wings.

Psalm 91:2
I will say to the LORD, “My refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.”

Psalm 9:9
The LORD also will be a refuge for the oppressed, A refuge in times of trouble.

Psalms 18:1‭-‬3
“I love You [fervently and devotedly], O Lord, my strength.” The Lord is my rock, my fortress, and the One who rescues me; My God, my rock and strength in whom I trust and take refuge; My shield, and the horn of my salvation, my high tower—my stronghold. I call upon the Lord, who is worthy to be praised; And I am saved from my enemies.

In the above psalm, the word "rock" refers to times of danger when people would flee to it as a place of safety to escape from their enemies.

The word fortress or stronghold means a place of defense, a place so strengthened that an enemy could not approach it.
The description of a High Tower/Strong Tower's is similar because these were erected on mountains or on the walls of a city and were regarded as safe places mainly because they were inaccessible.

The horn of my salvation - The "horn" to an animal is a means of defense. This means that in times of danger the animal was able to protect itself using its horn. It is also a sign of their strength.

Here the psalmist uses all of these descriptions to say that just like that rock, that fortress, that strong tower, that horn, that God is to us a place of safety, protection, refuge and strength!

Proverbs 18:10
The name of the Lord is a strong tower; The righteous run to it and are safe.

I believe it can be described as a tower of love. A love that surrounds us like that fortress. A place where that love embraces us, makes us feel safe and encourages us; where it rebuilds and restores; where it provides peace, strength, hope, confidence and stability ... He is that strong tower!

God is reminding us my friend, that for 2023, we don't have to go it alone - because we're not alone! He is our strong tower and He is with us!

Have a blessed day
