Is Jesus is your boat?

Good day

In John 6:16-21 the bible says the disciples were on their way to Capernaum as instructed by Jesus, yet Jesus wasn’t with them as He was praying on the mountain top – He did however meet up with them eventually by walking on the water. You’ll notice that when they were without Jesus, they experienced a possible storm, but as soon as He arrives in the boat the wind dies down (see Mark’s account in Mark 6).

Then in Mark 4 we see an account where Jesus said they had to go over to the other side, but while on their way there, a storm came and water filled the boat; and Jesus was asleep and they awoke Him, then He got up and rebuked the wind and spoke to the sea and it was still – and Jesus said “Why are you so fearful? How is it that you have no faith?

What’s significant about both accounts is that the storm came when Jesus was in the boat, as well as when He wasn’t – so having Jesus in your boat doesn’t prevent the storms from coming. Jesus said in Matthew 7 that the storms will come (also in John 16:33), whether you’re a Christian or not, the storms will come.

In John’s account, Jesus told them not to be afraid – in the same account in Matthew 14; it says how Peter then asks to come to Jesus but begins to sink because he looked at the wind and the waves instead of having faith in the words of Jesus … In all accounts – it relates to our Faith – not about whether we have Jesus in our lives or not … because it’s easy to just read John’s account and then think that the storm calmed down because Jesus got in the boat (in our lives) – but how many people have Jesus in their boats/lives and they still experience the storms? … Do you have Jesus in your boat? Great! … But do you believe Jesus is in your boat when the storms come your way? ... that is the question.

In Mark 4 Jesus said they would go over to the other side – but as soon as a storm came, they began to doubt and were afraid, asking Jesus why He doesn’t care about them, or the fact that they’re sinking – Jesus then gets up and rebukes the wind and the waves and then asks them why they were so fearful – how is it that they had no faith … because as far as Jesus was concerned – He already spoke the word! – they were going over the other side!

Has Jesus spoken a word over your situation? … Has He given you a promise/instruction? … But now the storms have come – you’re beginning to doubt, fear’s starting to creep in – and Jesus is asking you; why are you so fearful? How is it that you have no faith? - Because as far as Jesus is concerned; He’s already declared a word over your situation and circumstances! Hallelujah!

It’s your job to receive and believe that word, and to hold fast to it by speaking it! (Hebrews 10:23)

The scripture says the disciples were on their way to Capernaum – but as soon as Jesus got in the boat, they arrived immediately at their destination.

Faith can accelerate things in your life
Faith manifests God’s promises in your life (Hebrews 11:1)
Without Faith, let not that man think he shall receive anything from the Lord (James 1:6-7)
Faith is not just believing–The devil also believes there’s a God-Faith is acting on what we believe (A doer & not just a hearer of God’s word) (James 2:19-24)
Faith believes God’s promises even when there’s no sign in the natural that it can come to pass (Romans 4:18-24)

Romans 4:18-22
Even when there was no reason for hope, Abraham kept hoping—believing that he would become the father of many nations. For God had said to him, “That’s how many descendants you will have!” And Abraham’s faith did not weaken, even though, at about 100 years of age, he figured his body was as good as dead—and so was Sarah’s womb. Abraham never wavered in believing God’s promise. In fact, his faith grew stronger, and in this he brought glory to God. He was fully convinced that God is able to do whatever he promises. And because of Abraham’s faith, God counted him as righteous

Have Faith in God my friend! He is with you!
