I trust that this series has helped us to see that one of the most effective ways we can accomplish this is through prayer, and the important role prayer plays in evangelism. We can see the value the Apostle Paul placed on prayer by the following scriptures, and we should be encouraged to have this same commitment towards prayer: Rom 1:9,10 (NIV): "how constantly I remember you in my prayers at all times…" 1 Thes 3:10 (NIV):"Night and day we pray most earnestly..." Events moved rapidly after this as the Yellow Tent, seating ten thousand people, was built and the results of the ministry began to grow. In 1974 the evangelistic organization that is today still known as "Christ for all Nations" was born, and a small team gathered around the young evangelist to reach out to the peoples of Africa. The preaching of the Word began to produce a harvest of souls and in addition to this, people were being healed of all kinds of diseases. Out of the 10 largest churches in the world, South Korea has 6 of them. A director of one of the churches said that the churches in the area come together to pray in the morning. Because Apostle Paul understood that spiritual insight into God’s word/truth can only come from the Holy Spirit revealing it to us, he confidently and faithfully asked God to do so when in prayer for those he ministered to, because he knew the Holy Spirit was the one doing the work in their hearts. Now it’s impossible for someone to grow effectively without receiving the anointed word of God (Hebrews 11:6, Romans 10:17, Joshua 1:7-8, Psalm 119, James 1:23, 1 Peter 1:23, Romans 12:2) ... But if the word was all that’s required for spiritual growth, then why would he be led to pray for it as well? It tells us that Paul didn’t rely solely on the word/letters he wrote to the churches to ensure that they grew spiritually, he also prayed for them to grow. I'm sure all of us can testify to the many times that God has been patient with us, how He's corrected us, encouraged us, motivated us, revealed things to us, and how, in spite of how we may have treated our relationship with Him from time to time, He remained faithful, merciful and forgiving!  We are where we are today because God never gave up on us! Therefore we can relate to the below passages because we know that the only way we'll come to stand before God one day and say that we've "made it" is all because of Him ... not referring only to the salvation that is found in Christ alone, but the fact that God has helped, and continues to help us, along our journey and relationship with Him. In Part 1 & 2 we saw how prayer and evangelism go hand in hand. From here on out I want to focus specifically on prayer. We'll be taking a look at scriptures showing us that the Holy Spirit reveals God's truths to us; that He plays a role in our spiritual growth and how this is the reason why the Apostle Paul could pray for the churches the way he did and why we are encouraged to pray the same way as well; and then we'll also be taking a look at a few men God has used over the years in making an impact with regards to evangelism and what they had to say about prayer. In part 1 we looked at the question, is it enough to evangelize? and the answer was no, we have to pray as well. For this message I'll be flipping the question around - is it enough to pray, or is there something else we should be doing alongside that as well? I mentioned that the word evangelize means "to spread or preach the Gospel," or "bring good news." The word evangelize means "to spread or preach the Gospel," or "bring good news." In Christianity, evangelism (or witnessing) is the act of preaching the gospel with the intention of sharing the message and teachings of Jesus Christ. In some cases, Christian missionaries travel to foreign countries to evangelize. One of the main purposes behind evangelism is to convert non-Christians to Christianity. God's will and covenant with mankind is so important to Him, that He gave His life for it, and if you think of it, He still, continually, offers up His life/covenant ("time", attention, patience, goodness, faithfulness, love & care) towards us, each and every day ... and through the act of evangelism, we have the opportunity to share that good news with those who may not be aware of it. The question is, is that enough ... or is there something else we should be doing alongside that as well? In the following passages we find examples where we have been ...
