God created everything by the power of His word: (Hebrews 11:3)
Colossians 1:16-17, For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him. And He is before all things, and in Him all things consist.
For they willingly forget [the fact] that the heavens existed long ago by the word of God, and the earth was formed out of water ... 2 Peter 3:5
God, who gives life to the dead and calls those things which do not exist as though they did ... Romans 4:17
In Hebrews 11:3, the Bible says that by faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that the things which are seen were not made of things which are visible.
As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts. As the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return to it without watering the earth and making it bud and flourish, so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater, so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it - Isaiah 55:9-11
Jeremiah 1:12 - Then the Lord said to me, “You have seen well, for I am [actively] watching over My word to fulfill it.”
From the above verses we can clearly see that the word of God is powerful, powerful enough to create and sustain life. That God values the importance of His word. That His word is not without effect but always accomplishes what He sends it for! ... And by faith, our focus must be on the power of His word:
- But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him - Hebrews 11:6
- So Jesus answered and said to them, “Have faith in God. For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says. Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them - Mark 11:22-24
- And since we have the same spirit of faith, according to what is written, “I believed and therefore I spoke,” we also believe and therefore speak - 2 Corinthians 4:13
- Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we have asked of Him - I John 5:14-15
As believers, we need to believe! My pastor often says, if Jesus didn't mean what He said, then Jesus shouldn't have said it, because he's going to believe all that God has said and take Him up at His word.
If Jesus said that when you pray, you must believe you receive and you shall have (Mark 11:22-24); If He said do not worry about what you're going to eat or wear but to seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness and all these things shall be added unto you (Matthew 6:25-33) ... then that settles it! There is no other opinion or doctrine that can be formulated, what He said, He said! If we are going to question or doubt some of what Jesus said, then we might as well question our salvation because the same person whose words we believe for our eternal life is the same person who spoke all those promises as well ... and as believers, we need to believe all He has said!
The number on a calendar doesn't change a thing!
We need to fix our sights, not on what is seen in the natural, but on what is unseen and believe God's eternal word and speak His word over our family, church, economic outlook of our country, load shedding, public transport, the police force, employment for all, quality education system, all basic needs been met, all attempts by certain activists to come to nothing, for the church to thrive, have all its needs met, to be strengthened and succeed in preaching the gospel to every single person in our country! Amen!
