Lessons from Peter walking on water: Jesus can save us!

Good day

While praying this past Friday I believe the Holy Spirit highlighted the following as an encouragement for us all:

Matthew 14:22-33
Immediately Jesus made His disciples get into the boat and go before Him to the other side, while He sent the multitudes away. And when He had sent the multitudes away, He went up on the mountain by Himself to pray. Now when evening came, He was alone there. But the boat was now in the middle of the sea, tossed by the waves, for the wind was contrary. Now in the fourth watch of the night Jesus went to them, walking on the sea. And when the disciples saw Him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, “It is a ghost!” And they cried out for fear. But immediately Jesus spoke to them, saying, “Be of good cheer! It is I; do not be afraid.” And Peter answered Him and said, “Lord, if it is You, command me to come to You on the water.” So He said, “Come.” And when Peter had come down out of the boat, he walked on the water to go to Jesus. But when he saw that the wind was boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink he cried out, saying, “Lord, save me!” And immediately Jesus stretched out His hand and caught him, and said to him, “O you of little faith, why did you doubt?” And when they got into the boat, the wind ceased. Then those who were in the boat came and worshiped Him, saying, “Truly You are the Son of God.”

There are a few lessons that stand out about the above passage (and I'll share these in a separate message) but the one I believe the Holy Spirit specifically highlighted for me to share is the following, "and beginning to sink he cried out, saying, “Lord, save me!” And immediately Jesus stretched out His hand and caught him"

Very simply put, Jesus is prepared to save us!

When we find ourselves in a position where it may seem like there's no one to turn to, where help seems far away, where friends or family may seem out of reach or too distant to call upon ... where it may feel like we're "beginning to sink" under the pressures/demands of this life (the busyness at work/church/family/business, etc.) we can rest assured that there's Someone who is always willing, able, and present, to stretch out His hand, catch us and offer us help!

Hebrews 13:5,6
Let your conduct be without covetousness; be content with such things as you have. For He Himself has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” So we may boldly say: “The Lord is my helper; I will not fear. What can man do to me?”

1 Peter 5:5-7
Likewise you younger people, submit yourselves to your elders. Yes, all of you be submissive to one another, and be clothed with humility, for “God resists the proud, But gives grace to the humble.” Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time, casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.

Hebrews 4:15-16
For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin. Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.

Psalm 46:1
God is our refuge and strength, A very present help in trouble.

The encouragement I believe God is wanting to give us here my friend is that we must never feel as though we're all alone in the midst of whatever we may be facing and be in a place of despair or feel discouraged, and feel as though we're crumbling (beginning to sink) under the pressure of it all - BUT TO KNOW AND BELIEVE that there's always Someone we can turn to! - AND SHOULD TURN TO - and His name is Jesus!

Amen
