Good day
In the below passages we see that the word of God carries life (John 6:63), that it is powerful, (Hebrews 4:12), that it can be compared to imperishable/incorruptible seed (1 Peter 1:23-25) and that when someone plants or waters that seed, God causes it to grow (1 Corinthians 3:5-9)
John 6:63 NIV
The Spirit gives life; the flesh counts for nothing. The words I have spoken to you—they are full of the Spirit and life.
Hebrews 4:12 NKJV
For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
1 Peter 1:23-25 AMP
For you have been born again [that is, reborn from above—spiritually transformed, renewed, and set apart for His purpose] not of seed which is perishable but [from that which is] imperishable and immortal, that is, through the living and everlasting word of God. For, “All flesh is like grass, And all its glory like the flower of grass. The grass withers And the flower falls off, But the word of the Lord endures forever.” And this is the word [the good news of salvation] which was preached to you.
1 Corinthians 3:5-9 AMP
What then is Apollos? And what is Paul? Just servants through whom you believed [in Christ], even as the Lord appointed to each his task. I planted, Apollos watered, but God [all the while] was causing the growth. So neither is the one who plants nor the one who waters anything, but [only] God who causes the growth. He who plants and he who waters are one [in importance and esteem, working toward the same purpose]; but each will receive his own reward according to his own labor. For we are God’s fellow workers [His servants working together]; you are God’s cultivated field [His garden, His vineyard], God’s building.
A pastor once shared a story of a man and his son that were invited over to the father's friend's house, and how that friend shared the gospel of Jesus Christ with the father while the son sat outside on the porch. That day the father wasn't interested and didn't accept the friend's message. The son however, even though sitting outside, could overhear the conversation and he made a decision that day to receive Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior.
That son eventually grew up serving God and years later his son became a well known pastor.
This pastor, the grandson, eventually led his grandfather to Christ and one day decided to call the grandfather's friend who shared the gospel with him that day to let him know about what happened. The man said that he prayed for the grandfather everyday and that his name was the last name on his list of people that he'd been praying for to come to accept Christ.
The encouragement from this story is to take a look at the impact one can have by simply being willing to share the gospel of Jesus Christ. In this account 3 generations were impacted, not to mention one of them becoming a pastor who reaches thousands all around the world today, simply because of someone's willingness to share the word of God (and to pray).
Based on this we should never take for granted the times that we spend praying for others, or the times that we share a scripture or a Christian message with someone, or the times we may encourage someone regarding their relationship with God, or the times we bring someone along to church or to our small group meetings, etc. because by doing so we're planting or watering the seed (God's word) into the lives of others, and just as we read above, that seed carries life (John 6:63), that seed is powerful (Hebrews 4:12), that seed is imperishable/incorruptible (1 Peter 1:23-25) and whether we're the one's planting the seed and God works through others to water that seed or vice versa - we should have faith in the fact that God is causing that seed to grow! (1 Corinthians 3:5-9)
Amen
