Olympics - 1

Hi everyone

One of the reasons people show a lack of interest in what they’re doing is perhaps because they’re doing something they were never created or destined to do … in the Olympic games you’ll find that athletes specialise in a particular event. There’s one particular event they pay attention to – one particular event they invest money into to be better at it – one particular event they put time into more than others – one particular event they diet and train for … one particular event they excel in more than others.

Now I’m sure most athletes are versatile in that they can do more than one event and probably play more than one sport; however there’s still that one particular event that they excel in more than any other, and one of the reasons for that is because they’ve discovered that event, embraced that event and invested time and effort into that event – causing them to excel at it.

Once you’ve discovered it, you begin to focus solely on that event – you don’t get caught up in what other athletes are doing – you don’t attend their training sessions – you don’t necessarily follow the same tactics as them – you don’t attend or listen to what their coach shares with them – you read up and only study your event, in order to be better at it - you only focus on your event and all that your event entails.

You eat what you need to, you exercise the muscle groups you need to, you do specific training and tactical training that only your event requires … because you know what you’re particular event is – you’re now able to give your full attention to all that only your event requires and strive to achieve that gold medal … and the same principle applies in the spiritual when it comes to serving and being used in God’s kingdom and for His glory.

In order to fully excel in a particular area of ministry, you have to know what your one particular event is (and it can be more than one)

Once you know what God’s called you to do, and where to do it – you shouldn’t get caught up in what other Christians are busy doing – you also shouldn’t compare yourself to what they’re doing - because they’re called to do something different.

You don’t follow the same plan of action they would – you don’t commit, or be so involved in what they’re busy doing for God, that it affects what God’s called you to do for Him

Once you know what God’s called you to do, it helps bring focus to your life – you know what’s required – you pray about your “event” – you read up on your “event”, so as to be better at it – you talk to your leaders about your “event” and ask them questions, who have perhaps also done it, so as to get advice from them and learn from their mistakes – you invest time and money into your “event” because you know that’s where God wants you to focus your attention … all these things, and more, causes you to excel at your particular area of ministry … But notice that it all started with knowing what that “event” is.

Do you know your “event” my friend? … Do you know where God wants you to serve in the church? … Do you know what God’s called you to do in the Body of Christ as a whole?

Have you taken the time to ask Him and earnestly seek Him on this matter?
